Warning Against Neglecting Salvation

Therefore, we must pay much more attention to what we have heard, lest we stray from it. For since the message declared by the angels has proven reliable, and every transgression or disobedience has received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? This was first declared by Jesus, and it has been testified to us by those who have heard, while Jehovah has also borne witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. . For it is not to angels that God subjected the world to come of which we speak. It was testified somewhere, What is the man you remember, or the son of a man you care about? You made him for a short time lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor. However, by submitting everything to him, he left nothing beyond his control. At the present time, we do not yet see everything submitted to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, that by the grace of God he might taste death for all. For it was fitting that he for whom and through whom everything exists, glorifying many sons, perfecting through suffering the founder of their salvation. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified, all have a source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. Since therefore the children have part in flesh and blood, he also partook in the same things, that by death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all who through fear of death were in bondage for life. For surely it is not the angels that he helps, but he helps the posterity of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. because he suffered when he was tempted, he can help those who are tempted. It is the word of Jehovah in Jesus Christ. Amen. Hallelujah.
