Facebook says 50 million users were affected by security breach that let hackers take over accounts - Los Angeles Times

Facebook says 50 million users were affected by security breach that let hackers take over accounts - Los Angeles Times Nearly 50 million Facebook accounts have been affected by a security breach that enabled hackers to take over users’ accounts, the social media giant announced Friday. The new breach comes as Facebook strives to convince its more than 2 billion users that it can be trusted. It is grappling with the fallout from the revelation that British consulting firm Cambridge Analytica harvested the personal data of up to 87 million users, as well as the revelation that it unwittingly played host to a massive Russian misinformation campaign during the 2016 U.S. elections. The new vulnerability was discovered Tuesday afternoon and has been patched, Facebook said. "Attackers exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that impacted ‘View As,’ a feature that lets people see what their own profile looks like to someone else,” the company said Friday in  an online post . “This...

MSNBC Commentator Throws Logic Out the Window: Doesn't Care About Facts, Kavanaugh Is Guilty Ana Marie Cox, founder of Wonkette — a foul-mouthed far-left political gossip and satire site — has let it be known that facts are not important in determining whether or not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh actually assaulted Christine Ford when the two were teenagers. In the sacred court of Cox’s opinion,  she’s already judged him  and found him guilty. Cox appeared Monday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” to discuss  the allegation  against Kavanaugh about the incident from more than 30 years ago. Cox believes we can make a judgment on Kavanaugh’s guilt based solely on the level of emotional sympathy of his response to the allegation.
