"We want to reassure the public that we will conduct a complete and thorough investigation."

At Least Eight Dead After Severe Storms Hit Texas - NBC News Five people were were killed during the storms near the intersection of I-30 and I-90 in Garland, within a couple thousand feet of each other, Garland police spokesman Mike Hatfield told NBC News. It is believed all five victims were in vehicles at the time, Hatfield said. Hatfield said the deaths were weather-related. There were also multiple injuries reported at an apartment building but they were not considered life threatening.

Liberty University's Falwell urges students to carry concealed weapons - AOL Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Christian-based Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, is encouraging students to carry concealed weapons on campus for protection, a local newspaper reported. Falwell made his remarks at the school's weekly convocation on Friday night, according to The News & Advance in Lynchburg. The comments came two days after a  shooting in San Bernardino, California left 14 people dead  and in the wake of other shooting sprees in the United States, including some on college campuses.
